We are proud to announce that our Co-founder - Archana Kolangara, has been honored with the prestigious Shakthi Award for "Women Making a Difference" in 2023. This accolade is a testament to Archana's remarkable career and recognizes her ‘Distinguished Career Achievement’ along with her impactful contributions to our community.

Shakthi is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a primary focus on empowering women within the South Asian community residing in Greater Charlotte, North Carolina. Their mission is to offer unwavering support by connecting women with essential resources, fostering an understanding of their fundamental rights, including civic duties, and enhancing their overall quality of life. Shakthi is deeply committed to organizing community awareness events, fundraising initiatives for noble causes, and collaborating with local women's organizations. Every year, they take great pride in acknowledging and celebrating women who have made a significant difference in various aspects of our community.

The award was presented at a distinguished event on October 7, 2023. Mrs. Jennifer Roberts, the former Mayor of Charlotte, bestowed this well-deserved honor upon Archana.

We at CHESS KLUB are immensely grateful for this honor and are overwhelmed with pride and joy. Thank you, Archana, for your outstanding contributions to the chess community the Charlotte community, and your commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of women in the South Asian community.

She played 5 exceptionally competitive games and scored a fantastic score of 3 points, and secured the 6th position, making us at CHESS KLUB the happiest chess academy in the world!

Ahaan and his team won the runner-up trophy with a brilliant score of 3 points out of the 5 games held.

Our students Jethin Bastian, Murali Kongot and Imron Sukhratov gave us all at CHESS KLUB a BIG reason to smile.


The 2023 National Elementary K-6 Championship at Baltimore, MD, was a special event for us.

Our students Jethin Bastian, Murali Kongot and Imron Sukhratov gave us all at CHESS KLUB a BIG reason to smile.

Their performance at their first National level tournament was beyond outstanding. Jethin secured the 3rd place in the Blitz section while Murali scored a splendid 5 points across the 7 rounds he played in the Under - 500 category and Imron scored a brilliant 3.5 points out of 5 in his category.

Kudos to them and a hearty congratulations to their proud parents!!!
