Chess KLUB allows all students the opportunity to display their skills practically every week. Let’s take a look at the tournaments that took place in the past week, along with the results and some brilliant games.
Chess KLUB Monthly Championship
This Saturday, we had the Chess KLUB Monthly Championship for the month of July, where we had 62 participants, with Aarav Patel as the champion with an excellent score of 7 out of 9.
The runner up at this event was Kinjal Chatterjee, who also had a score of 7 and the champion and runner up played a brilliant game against each other. Kinjal began the game with Queen Pawn and Kinjal won a pawn in the opening.
the game progressed, Aarav blundered his Rook which allowed Kinjal to threaten Aarav’s King on the last rank. This disadvantage forced Aarav to resign on the 14th move. In third place, we had Joshith Vurimi with a great score of 7 points.
Chess KLUB Classic Arena Tournament
On Sunday, we had the Chess KLUB Classic Arena Tournament with Sanjey Ramachandran as our first seed with a fantastic win rate of 74%, followed by Jethin Bastin in second place with a wonderful win rate of 71%.
The first and second seeds played an interesting game against each other that Sanjey began with the Ruy Lopez Opening. The two players then exchanged their Queens, and Sanjey became a pawn up following the Queen trade.
On the 25th move, Jethin blundered his Rook, which gave Sanjey a massive advantage. This disadvantage forced Jethin to resign on the 26th move. The second runner up was Aarav Patel, who had a perfect win rate of 100%.
Intermediate Battle Arena
On Monday,, we had the Intermediate Battle Arena with Jethin Bastin at the top of the winner list with a fabulous win rate of 78%. Jethin played his best game against the runner up Vivan Sarraf who had a win rate of 54%. Jethin began the game with the Italian Game Opening – Anti – Fried Liver Defense version.
On the 14th move, Vivan made a Queen blunder that gave Jethin a massive advantage that allowed Jethin to pose an attack on Vivan’s Queen as the game progressed. This disadvantage forced Vivan to resign on the 26th move, making Jethin victorious. The third seed at this event was Nihal Tej Gundu, who had a perfect win rate of 100%.
Open Classic Arena
On Wednesday, we had the Open Classic Arena Tournament. We had Havish Venkat as the Champion with an excellent win rate of 83%, followed by Sabarish Kailasam in second place with a grand win rate of 86% and Aarav Patel in third place with a perfect win rate of 100%.
The most engaging game at this event was between the Champion and runner up in the second last round. Sabarish began the game with the Scotch Game, and the two exchanged their Queens early into the game.
Havish won a pawn in the middle game, and as the game progressed, he made a passed pawn followed by a Knight blunder that Sabarish made. In the end game, Havish was a pawn and a Bishop up, which forced Sabarish to resign on the 41st move.
This week saw some exceptional games along with a refreshing winner list. We hope to see similar results every week.
